Compare evidence, analyze a submitted version for runbooks, prepare revisions, and export a selected version.

## Before you start

### Intended audience

Incident owners and reviewers who finalize a postmortem.

### Required permissions

You need permission to edit and submit the postmortem. Export access depends on the destination.

## Procedure

### Review and submit

<a id="step-review-the-state"></a>

1. **Review the state.** Review the saved status and selected version. Evidence changes compares current evidence with that version’s captured evidence. This comparison does not edit the document.

<a id="step-edit-the-document"></a>

2. **Edit the document.** Select Edit document. Address unsupported claims and open review feedback.

<a id="step-submit-the-revision"></a>

3. **Submit the revision.** Select Submit changes. Tellagen adds the revision under Versions.

<a id="step-analyze-for-runbooks"></a>

4. **Analyze for runbooks.** Select Analyze for runbooks for an existing version. Copy its instructions into your local assistant. Analysis returns candidates or a zero-candidate reason without changing the document.

<a id="step-prepare-a-revision"></a>

5. **Prepare a revision.** Prepare a revision from the saved draft and selected evidence. Review the proposal before Apply to working draft. Use Submit changes separately to create a submitted version.

<a id="phase-preserve-and-export"></a>

### Preserve and export

<a id="step-review-versions"></a>

6. **Review versions.** Open Versions. Select the immutable version you need before exporting. Historical assistant versions keep their original kind. Review the working draft and submit it as a new version.

<a id="step-open-the-export-menu"></a>

7. **Open the export menu.** Select Export to…. PDF and Markdown + media are available. You cannot select an item marked Coming soon. A connected destination is available only when the menu enables it.

## You are done when…

The postmortem retains immutable submitted versions. Evidence comparison, runbook analysis, and revision proposals remain separate operations.

## Troubleshooting

<a id="troubleshooting-submission-is-blocked"></a>

### Submission is blocked.

Confirm the document is not empty, wait for Saved draft, and check your edit permission. Missing or unreviewed sections do not block submission.

<a id="troubleshooting-the-exported-content-is-missing-evidence"></a>

### The exported content is missing evidence.

Confirm the evidence is attached to timeline events and included in the submitted version before exporting again.

<a id="troubleshooting-the-assistant-tools-are-unavailable"></a>

### The assistant tools are unavailable.

Update your local Tellagen MCP server to support protocol 2. Use the operation-specific instructions. Do not use legacy generation as a substitute.

<a id="troubleshooting-a-connected-export-destination-is-unavailable"></a>

### A connected export destination is unavailable.

Use PDF or Markdown + media. An unavailable destination does not change the submitted version. Ask a workspace manager to review the integration. Do not retry an item marked Coming soon.
